Prompted by the success of our first two mentoring programs, HAKS is again offering its voluntary mentoring program to M/W/DBE firms that have worked with us on various project(s) or are seeking to do so. The Program is designed to give M/W/DBE firms an edge in the market by providing them with key planning, marketing and financial management information derived from HAKS’ experience in growing a successful MBE firm. Beginning Thursday, October 8, 2015, monthly noon-time meetings will be held at our 40 Wall Street headquarters every second Thursday of the month through June 2016.
HAKS’ commitment to the program is evidenced by its choice of mentors, which include: Husam Ahmad, Chairman and CEO; Mike Shamma, President; and Shahid Akhtar, CFO. Each mentor will offer participants first-hand knowledge of how to establish their respective firms in the industry, understand its supply chain and create a niche market for their services. Firms that complete the training will be given an opportunity to work as a subconsultant to HAKS on an upcoming project, as appropriate. This hands-on experience will enable participating firms to apply classroom instruction and lessons learned in the workplace.
Participation in the program is free of charge to current HAKS subconsultants and to young firms (typically in business less than 5 years) seeking to accelerate the learning curve. Participants are required to attend every session, and should be committed to doing so. Space, however, is limited. Firms interested in participating are encouraged to email Francine Fyffe at firstname.lastname@example.org, no later than September 14, 2015, to request and subsequently submit an executed copy of the Memorandum of Understanding. All requests should include “Mentor Program” in the subject line. We are looking forward to working closely with those selected.
